Cracoe Fell Wild Camp
Funny how this one came about. I had a small window of opportunity during the week. Weather was good and I’d been hiking on Cracoe Fell a few months previously.
Cracoe Fell is a high ridge with superb views. You don’t want to be falling off this ridge as its high. Very high. However it has a decent ‘lip’ with a few flat spots.
This was to be my first bivy camp. Fast and light, I’d get there straight from work, camp, and get back to work in the morning.
I was nervous on this one as I didn’t know how much kit to take. I wanted to go light but ensure I wasn’t going to be cold. I didn’t need to worry. Beautiful evening, sunset, and sunrise.
I’d switched to a polycryo ground sheet. This is the material sometimes used on windows. Its extremely tough and light. Its also very slippy and therefore needs a perfectly flat surface. I ended up slipping down the very slight banking all night.
Key Kit Taken:
